What is sacroiliac joint block
A sacroiliac joint (SIJ) block is an injection of local anesthetic and a steroid medication into the sacroiliac joint. The local anesthetics numb the nerves that innervate the SIJ and provide pain sensation and therefore reduce the SIJ pain. The steroid medication reduces the inflammation of SIJ and provides long-term pain relief.
